What is a CryoPen treatment?

CryoPen treatment is a medical procedure that destroys skin imperfections by freezing and killing the skin cells. It uses a specialised device called the CryoPen to infuse nitrous oxide into the blemish. As a result, its underlying tissue shatters and destroys.

This procedure provides a lasting benefit by destroying the cells’ reproductive DNA, preventing the eliminated imperfections from returning.

The CryoPen treatment must be done accurately to ensure that no healthy part of your skin is affected. This is why our skincare therapists apply a high level of precision to prevent healthy skin areas from becoming affected.

Our CryoPen treatment combats skin abnormalities, including age spots, skin tag removal, cherry angioma removal, wart removal, and other skin imperfections. It is also considered the best verruca treatment, milia removal, and other skin imperfections.

How long does it take for CryoPen to work?

It takes about one to six weeks, based on the treatment area and size. The affected area will have a darker colour than your original skin tone and will become extremely dry and crusty. After about ten days, the skin regenerates, and affected parts fall off, eliminating the imperfections.

Before & After Treatments

Before

Various pre-treatment safety precautions must be taken before CryoPen therapy. These practices may vary based on your needs, skin type, and target area. So, our therapists will provide tailored instructions during your consultation session.

However, generally, we recommend refraining from retinoids, physical exfoliants, or exfoliating acids two days before treatment. Also, refrain from applying fake or gradual tan about two weeks before treatment.

Lastly, do not have any laser procedures, including hair removal or skin rejuvenation treatments, a week before your CryoPen session.

After

Straight after the procedure the treated area will feel itchy, and there will be some erythema on and around the area.

Due to this, we recommended not touching the treated area, avoiding swimming, sunbathing, the use of sauna, or steaming at least 48 hours after your session, and avoiding applying makeup or skincare products to treatment areas. The treatment spot may appear darker. You may also experience redness and swelling.

However, these symptoms are temporary and disappear after some time. We suggest following your specialists’ instructions for the best results after treatment.

FAQs

Is it safe?

The CryoPen treatment is very safe and does not come with significant complications. Side effects are infrequent, however, patients may notice other swelling and redness of the skin, which disappears within a week after the procedure. There is also a risk of scarring, and in areas where hair grows, can result in hair follicle damage. An in depth consultation will be performed prior to the treatment to ensure it is safe to be carried out.

Will it scar?

The tissue is destroyed by freezing the inter-cellular fluid, with formation of ice crystals, which leads to rupture of the cell membrane, destroying the cell. This causes minimal scarring. There will be no collateral damage to healthy tissue.

Is it painful?

The treatment is not painful, however it can cause a light stinging and itching sensation for a short time post treatment.
